Synopsis...
A ridge of high pressure will build slowly west across the eastern and northern Gulf of Mexico through Friday. The forecast for the weekend is highly dependent on the track and intensity of Tropical Storm Gustav. The latest official forecast track has Gustav strengthening to a hurricane and moving across the far western tip of Cuba on Saturday and into the central Gulf of Mexico on Sunday. This track would generate increasing easterly winds and building swells on Sunday and continuing into early next week. Refer to the latest advisories from the National Hurricane Center for details.
